Labelling Things
Labelling things, we do it everyday for a variety of things. In the philosopher A.J.Ayer's book Language, Truth, and Logic, he talks about language (also meta-ethics) and how our main problem is describing things that our larger than the human realm with human language. Therefore very limited and will always be more basic than the thing you are describing.
From, currently, being addicted to the stats of this blog, I have realised I am unconsciously labelling you my audience and for this I apologise. This was not intentional, this is the flawed quality of the human being.
However sometimes labelling is important as it is a guide to other from your own experience. Example in a simple form is the name of a type of shoe, i.e. an Oxford brogue.
This is a traditional Oxford Brogue, from Church. However where this simplistic labelling is flawed is in the difference of opinion. Example, people may classify the below as an Oxford brogue.
In my opinion, (i.e. the main point of this argument) this is not an Oxford Brogue, I would say this is a rubber jazz shoe, with Brogue details, and that is all.
The Philosopher G.E.Moore (Principia Ethica)also continued this argument asking "what is yellow?" Which is asking an individual how they would describe this colour. Due to different experience and education every answer will be different for two reasons. Reason 1, they have learnt different vocabulary and therefore will use only what they have. And reason 2, the more important one, they will have different opinions on things from other people. This is something wonderful about life, but also frustrating. No two people will think the same, and you can't prescribe your thoughts and ideas to others as they will never be able to understand them as we all have different processors, giving different outcomes.
Thank you if you have read this, this is more me having a discussion out load.

When Fashion gets ridiculous
Just found a prime example :
When in the world is this (above) a good idea. For a start what a wast of life both for the poor birdy (or birdies) that had to die for this monstrosity, and the ickle silk worms too! Next the waste of diamonds, if your on the same page, could they be blood diamonds, it would shock me if they did. And finally was the designer who created this utterly blind? The only redeeming feature is the colour way, mink pink and black, but I guess that's a no-brainer.
In other news LVMH (aka the dons of Fashion, Louis Vuitton etc.) have bought 14% of Hermes, lets hope they don't ruin that 14% and therefore depreciate it's value. But seeing how, in the past few years, they have turned their own branding around, I am not too worried for Hermes. Congratulations.

Cha, cha, changes----->>>> Part 3
This weeks aim is to get the website up and running. Hit wall 1. can't read code, and don't really understand Dreamweaver.
Apart from this, creatively I have decided on a font, a background, and pretty much editing content. Which I definitely can do.
I think with this change in career strategy I have realised what I will gain, no matter how successful I am, is creative satisfaction. I can already feel it happening.
This project I post below was that start of that. I created this Urban Nomad project for my degree final exam. However for me it was more about exploring the way we, in the contemporary world, carry things. How things have evolved from the simple sack. If I had my way I would have made a range of sacks. However due to the structure of the course, I had to make a commercial range.

Life as we know it---->>>>Part 2
So currently I am on a, sort of mini-holiday in between jobs, and I have to tell you it's been a while. I mean a while since doing nothing.
Granted I did go to Portugal a couple of times this summer, but both were about getting back to normal and not having a melt down. This down time is about getting project "Bloomfield" back on track! To be more specific this time off I will be trying to relax etc., but to be frank with you it's not really in my nature this time of year. This time is going to be spent setting up my new site (exciting!) and starting to research and design my first solo range.
So due to this big change which I forgot to even outline. I basically quit my full time job to take me designing more seriously, crazy huh! This big change has made me go a little crazy i.e. listening to a lot of Madonna and Cyndi Lauper power ballads!

Menswear --- Details---- Clever---- Part 1.
So as you may or may not know by now my admiration in fashion is Menswear, in particular pieces that have interesting materials, for example coated canvases and bonded materials.
One of my favourite designers that ticks these boxes for me is Aitor Throup

The reasons I love his design are his construction methods; looking at the bodies form, i.e. how we hold ourselves, and our natural silloutte for this era. He also construct the clothes around the contours of the body rather than making a totally artificial silloutte like many of his contemporaries do.
As a sub note, I also admire his figure drawings for the organic honest nature, as currently I am taking a life drawing class and can really respect the detail and fluidity of his style.
One of his many accolades is that he designed the world cup England kit, for this I am really jealous, as I am a big football fan. One of my own dreams is to design the kit of accessories i.e. football, shin gards for Tottemham Hotspurs my team, who had a rather smashing game against Intern-Milan last night even though we didn't win. Well done Gareth Bale!!

Life as we know it......
I guess my friend was right when he said "in your mid 20's you have a mid-life crisis". I totally ,whole heartedly, agree with this now, especially in this crazy pressure cooker world we live in, it's fricking mental.
This is just an arbitrary statement to lead into me showing you some more archive work that I came across, that makes me smile and reflect to simpler times in my life. Yes I sound like a character from Rushmore, because I think some days I am.
This is my featured back, aka the taped duffel I did for Adidas SLVR, in their first season. I constructed the first proto myself sent it to the factories, made amendments (over seen by the team leader of SLVR and creative director of SLVR and Y-3). I am really proud of this bag as 2 weeks ago I saw a guy in the street wearing it. I stopped him and asked his feedback about the bag and he said how useful it was. This made me content, as this is my main objective when designing.
Concept covered Lanyard
Concept covered keyring
Belt designed by myself with the aid of graphic designer Denis Hohman
The stripy accessory is my stripy hanging purse.
The original purse I designed, with the Origami concept.
Enjoy guys!

The stare of the lone wolf
This is a shoot for Louis Vuitton featuring Michael Lin in Shanghai.
The Dog makes this image as he/ she gives it perspective, i.e. "what's going on here? What have you done to my owner he's frozen, this is really rather abnormal!"
This image was found on the selby website. A true genius of the are of voyeurism.

A favourite image from the store Luna and Curious, Brick Lane.
This image later inspired this bag.
Some Y-3 socks I designed, first round samples : )
So thats a taster of stuff pre 2009, more to come......................
Being Provocative
This post is all about the British media. I will point out now that this will probably turn into a rant, if this is not to your taste maybe read further down my blog, I have an article about baby animals.
The British media has always been a provocateur of it's audience. Every since I have been able to read (yes make a witty remark now) I have found the British media, press to be more specific, to be completely frustrating. I remember asking my father as a child, why the newspapers always had negative stories as the headlines on the front page. His reply was something like, thats how they sell them. Confusing for a child.
Now I realise he may have had a point, as the British press works almost like the Greek tragedies, it's all about the drama and shock of the story not necessarily about the actual people involved, reporting the news, or changes in history. It's just the same as reading a fictional book.
Today I saw this article on the front of the daily mail:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1320545/Sledgehammer-gangs-daring-daylight-jewellery-raid-foiled-50-angry-shoppers.html
Firstly it grabbed my attention as my dad used to work in shops like this and had many incidents with organised crime gangs, and secondly the fact that it was shoppers on the street that actually helped stop this. What a surprise (adding a bit of drama to a rather common story).
It is funny however, the different varieties of newspapers. The Guardian stands out to me as quite an opinion based newspaper, where as in complete contrast the Daily mail (above) is an entertainment paper.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/oct/14/hate-hipsters-blogs
(This article in itself is doing something quite interesting, it is provoking it's own audience to comment and defend their social status how very sneaky of you Guardian!)
My main point of this post, it when did this segmentation of the British press happen, and why does it exist. All answers below please.

My Favourite home accessories Brand ...In the world!!
AREAWARE
http://www.areaware.com/
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and this beholder is rather smitten.
It's amazing, and like a lot of amazing things it derives from New York. So firstly you guys in New York are super lucky, but I am half as lucky, as you, non-New Yorker's can also be, as I am able to ogle their collections on their contemporary website.
Areaware, have everything you could possibly want for your home. See all the goodies below!
Cast from an actual taxidermy piglet.
Cute wooden radio, a shame British radio is lameo!
A quirky bike!
For all us Jews.
Amazing lighting.
And although they are a home accessories brand, my favourite item is this = >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The only time you will ever want to wear one of these.
See these objects just fill me with joy, I hope they do you too!
